Our favourite live shows of 2015...

Bonanza & Son Top Eleven Live Shows of 2015:
(Don’t ask me why there are 11 there just is!)

1) Bob Dylan…The Royal Albert Hall…22nd October 2015:
‘I’m still buzzing from this gig as if it was last night…. The only way I can describe it was as if being touched by the hand of God!.. I don’t quite feel like the same man who walked into that hallowed hall such was the experience and such is the beautiful yet bizarre feeling that has continued to ‘accompany’ me!’

2) The Who… Hyde Park (British Summertime)… 26th June 2015:
‘Another band who proved they’ve still got what it takes to be one of the best live bands in the world, a perfect but never obvious cross section of their back catalogue the pinnacle for me being ‘Sparks/Amazing Journey’ which was a truly religious experience as the sun went down on a perfect day in London’s Hyde Park’.

3) Crosby, Stills & Nash… Hammersmith Apollo… 13th September 2015:
‘Another hallowed heritage group who prove they have still very much ‘got it’; a beautiful and moving experience’.

4) Peter Bruntnell with Dave Boquist… Aces & Eights… 4th December 2015 :
‘Pete Bruntnell has one of the hottest and tightest live bands in the UK at the present time and with the addition of Dave Boquist of Son Volt on guitar this was a mind blowing ‘triple axe attack’. There really is no band to touch them on the UK roots scene at the moment in my opinion and Pete’s upcoming LP, due for release in early 2016 , is to our ears the best of his career.’

5) Daniel Romano… Texas Joes/Horatio Holloway… 10th June 2015:
A surprisingly tough Country-Rock set more reminiscent of Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue than previous outings and almost entirely made up of hard, brand, spanking new songs despite him having just released a new LP… Full Bonanza & Son respect to the man who puts his art before commerce and sticks two fingers up at the record industry.’

6) Earth… Islington Assembly Hall… 20th February 2015:
‘A majestic, aural assault from the best ‘Heavy Rock’ band in the world today rightfully basking in the glory of the 'Primitive and Deadly' LP, their most accessible and ambitious album to date’

7) The Godfathers… The 100 Club… 17th June 2015:
‘With their new five piece, twin guitar assault there seems to be no stopping the Brothers Coyne; playing, sounding and looking just as good as they ever did if not better, no mean feat considering this show was their 30 year anniversary show… Where did the years go?

8) Sturgill Simpson… Islington Assembly Hall… 20th August 2015:
‘It was so refreshing to have our mind well and truly blown by a good old fashioned Country band… with a little bit of the Cosmos thrown in for good measure.’

9) Cale Tyson… Aces & Eights Bar… 25th April 2015:
‘Cale Tyson just goes from strength to strength and with a killer new album due in April 2016 plus a string of UK dates with a full rocking Country band there’s no doubt in our mind he is gonna be massive in 2016… You read it here first.’

10) Sleaford Mods… Hyde Park (British Summertime)… 26th June 2015:
‘In many ways 2015 has been Sleaford Mods’ year seeing them pretty much traject from small venues to selling out 1000+ capacity halls as well as an incendiary appearance on Jools Holland. The Hyde Park show and their Specials Roundhouse support slot at the end of 2014 proved they could make the transition sonically, physically and conceptually as well as with the commercial and critical consensus. 2016 is theirs for the taking but then again we’ve pretty much been saying this since 2007!

11) Tom Russell… 100 Club… 1st October 2015:
’Tom brought one of our favourite albums of 2015 to life, not an easy task for something so epic and sprawling but he did it with great aplomb and with what was quite frankly a bloody good night out and everything you want from a gig’.
